Les membres d'Holding Sand se rencontrent durant l'été 2007. Clément, alors chanteur dans Edison, dont le premier album fut entièrement produit par Davy Portella (guitariste de Pleymo), est contacté par Franck et Coralie, afin de former un groupe emo-rock/post-hardcore. Le split d'Edison en mai 2007 lui permet d'accepter ce nouveau projet, et les trois musiciens partent alors à la recherche d'un batteur. Ce poste sera ainsi occupé par Alexis, ex-Eden, que Clément a rencontré grâce à un vieux projet de concert Eden/Egowax (premier groupe de Clément). Le groupe emprunte son nom a un groupe hardcore-experimental que Clément souhaitait créer avec Bruno Ménard, ex-bassiste d'Egowax. Holding Sand commence à répéter en Septembre 2007. Plutôt que de faire un album d'un coup, le groupe préfère enregistrer régulièrement de nouveaux titres. Ils sont enregistrés et mixés par le chanteur, ce qui permet au groupe de donner à ses enregistrements la couleur qu'il désire. The members of Holding Sand meet during summer, 2007. Clément, then singer in Edison, whose first album was produced by Davy Portella (guitarist of Pleymo), is contacted by Franck and Coralie, to form an emo-rock / post-hardcore band. The end of Edison in May, 2007 allows him to accept this new project, and the three musicians leave then in search of a drummer. This post will be occupied by Alexis, ex-Eden, that Clément met thanks to an old project of concert Eden / Egowax (first band of Clément). Holding Sand takes its name from a hardcore-experimental project which Clément wished to create with Bruno Ménard, ex-bass player of Egowax. Holding Sand begins to repeat in September, 2007. Instead of making a record in one shot, the band prefers recording the new songs one by one. They are recorded and mixed by the lead singer, which allows the band to get the sound they want.
