| Dominican born, Rafael moved to Washington, D.C. as a child. In his early teens there in Washington.He began his musical career as a percussionist, and began developing his diverse playing style by incorporating his Afro-Hispanic roots into American styles. In the mid 80’s, Rafael moved to Miami and became part of the evolving Latin music scene. He has performed through out the United States, Europe and Latin America. He has also collaborated with numerous artists, such as, Paquito D’Rivera, Placido Domingo, Chayanne, Grace Jones, Ricky Martin, Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Roberto Perera, Nestor Torres, Daniela Mercury, Luis Enrique and many others.A couple of years Rafael was instrumental in starting Platinum Artists Inc. an entertainment company whose objective is to showcase new music and talent. As Executive Vice President of Platinum Artists Inc. he has organized a pool of music producers and song writers that collectively have the ability to identify and produce world class artists.
