| (poet, singer, gospel hiphop artist) known on stage as 'Vocab' has been a poet since the age of six. Vocab originally hails from the group L.S.C. Ministries a hiphop group which was birthed in April of 1999. From there she realized her ability to capture feeling within the media of language which gave voice to her call to literature and performance art poetry. Since that time she went on to have works published in literary magazines and is featured in several anthologies. Check her out her cover story on www.goiungo.com where she is featured in the Literary Arts section. Her work is displayed on several websites including www. sablack.com, saalive.com, and www.poetry.com. She has featured on stages with her poetry at various universities such as DePauw University, Moorehouse College, St. Mary's University, University at San Antonio, Trinity University, and Rice University. She is a member of the 2005 and 2006 San Antonio Slam teams and a member of the 2007 Corpus Christi team. She has been featured on program at various churches, art galleries, clubs and has traveled across the nation sharing her passion through prose and participated slam competitions all over the state of Texas and other regions of the nation. She works with various charities including a feature performance in the Project of Love held at the Freeman Coliseum. Vocab has had the pleasure of opening for Stellar and Dove award winning recording artist Mary Mary and Ambassador of Cross Movement. She is also the former co-host of Writers Block and Free Verse Fridays and has hosted numerous spoken word showcases around the state of Texas. | |
