| Hi I am lucky to work as a freelance musician performing on saxophone and clarinet.My major passion over the last 20 or so years has been music and in particular Jazz.Over the years I have performed in almost every conceivable venue from small intimate jazz clubs to top hotels such as Gleneagles.I absolutely love playing and keep inspired by performing with a large pool of fine diverse musicians. A brief outline of what I do:-SELLARS BROS.QUINTET, This is a funky hard-bop quintet that I co-lead with my super-talented brother Jason Sellars who writes and scores much of our material.The quintet specialises in providing the"classic" blue note quintet sound in a contemporary fresh manner!! SELLARS BROS.TRIO A group featuring Jason (tumpet and flugelhorn),myself (alto+tenor saxophone and clarinet) and our great friend stellar guitarist John Whyte.With this group the emphasis is on providing classy jazz/bossa nova standards in a non-intrusive way,rendering us ideal for enjoyable background music. UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE BIG BAND, I have been fortunate to musically direct this jazz ensemble since 1997.We perform the whole spectrum of big band music from Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman to contemporary charts composed by the likes of Thad Jones and Gordon Goodwin.Its a really musically rewarding experience leading this band and I really enjoy and savour the musicians company!! INSOUL, Jason and myself provide the horn section for this versatile top scottish fuction band. DOUGIE MARTIN, We occasionally perform the odd gig here and there with much loved scottish soul legend vocalist Dougie Martin. | |
