About Me |
|
| I've been teaching guitar since 1986. I currently teach guitar and bass at a private school and another studio. I've had the opportunity to study with Mick Goodrick, Pat Martino, Nick Katzman, Paul Byrne, Jimmy Duckworth and others. I've attended master classes by Larry Coryell and Jim Hall. I'm presently continuing to study my jazz bass concept with Ron Brendle.I've been playing bass professionally since 1991 starting with Tone Deaf James and the Bedrockers. Highlights of the bands career were numerous awards as Charlotte's best blues band, winning the Low Country Blues Society Contest and recording in Reflections Sound Studios. Concurrent with this band I played guitar and soprano sax in the free jazz outfit Cornerstone, made up of members and friends of the Bedrockers. I cofounded the Charlotte Blues Society with Ron Linton and Beth Pollhammer. I continue to play bass in the CBS houseband. When The Bedrockers ran their course in 1997 I freelanced, playing bass with Mike Lassiter, Mary Fagan, Nightwind, Mark Sullivan Trio (still active), Andy Mowrer, The PhilHarmonic Bluesband, The James Cunningham Band, Shasta and the Showstoppers and others. The variety of music was folk, country, blues, punk, jazz, funk and jamband. In 2000 I was invited to join Delancey Street and recorded two discs, Obsession and Against the Night. This band performed original music, and recieved regular rotation on local radio, WNCW and WSGE. We performed on Georgia Public Radio,WNCW and WRFX Smokin' Blues Show. We performed festivals in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. The band dissolved in 2007.As a member of various housebands I've had the opportunity to perform with Little Ed, Ronnie Earl, Frank Frost, The Willie Lomax Blues Revue, Sam Carr, Mookie Brill, Alvin "Little Pink" Anderson, Sam Meyers, Diamond Teeth Mary, Big Jack Johnson and others. I'm currently playing in Michael Wolf and The Voodoo Brothers.I'm accepting students and freelance work. | |
