About Me

The 14 songs on David McKay's first release take listeners from hard-time travels in and around Portland, Oregon, then back home again to a Phoenix, Arizona, rebirth. Oregon folk can catch references to Old Town's Everett Street and the St. Johns bridge. Desert amigos may recall pieces of the nights, recent and long-ago, spent in now-departed Phoenix clubs like Merlin's, Edcel's Attic, Long Wong's and the Sun Club. With expertise and encouragement from Charley Wiley at Caveman Studio, David McKay brings in special guest artist Hans Olson, Arizona's "dean of the Blues," to add his matchless harmonica licks on four of these tracks. Jimmy Tiberia and Ed Toaspern, longtime power-pop compadres in the Valley of the Sun, also come in to back up the project. FADE TO BLUE collects some of the best of David McKay's songwriting to date and marks his turning point as a singer-songwriter dedicated to getting his message across in the acoustic arena.
