About Me |
|
| Snake Pit Quartet hails from Plainfield IL. After many years of playing original songs in the local music scene, members Aaron and Jason Olin felt it was time for a change. Not being as inspired by playing original songs as they once were, they decided to start a cover band. With means of not sounding like every other bar band, they opted to take old classic songs and spice them up a bit. With influences from their former punk scene while borrowing the sounds of Johnny Cash, Elvis, and 80’s rock, a new bar band emerged. They soon asked guitarists Brendon McGrath and Rick Vega to join. With no real aspirations to play regularly, the band was asked to play at a local bar in January 2006. With only knowing 8 songs at the time, the band was able to blow away everyone at the bar that night with their exciting stage presence and upbeat music.A year had passed since that night, and in January 2007 the band decided to dust off their equipment and give it another go. With Rick Vega having other interests, the band recruited Mike Theil as a guitarist. In March of 2007 the band was asked again to play at the same bar from a year ago, this time with more songs and the new lineup. Again, the band went over well with the bar goers. From that night on, the band decided to take playing shows more seriously and persistently. For the next six months the band was playing nearly 2 shows a month and adding new songs to each one of them.In late 2007 Snake Pit Quartet recorded 5 songs to distribute at their shows. The CD includes Snake Pit’s versions of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison”, Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds”, Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” and The Outfield’s “Your Love”. The CD will soon be available come April 2008. Snake Pit Quartet plans on playing many different bars in the future with you singing along with a beer in your hand. If you would like to hear us play a certain song at a show, please contact us and let us know. Hope to see you there!! | |
