'You will never be happy'. Deze zin blijft door je hoofd dwalen vanaf de eerste bladzijde van het boek ‘Torture the Artist’. Omdat ook voor the Rebelines het gras altijd groener lijkt aan de andere kant, hoor je deze boodschap vaak weerklinken in hun muziek. Nog voor je het goed en wel beseft, sleurt deze vierkoppige band je mee in een absurde, muzikale chaos, waarbij op eigenzinnige en brute wijze de liefde wordt bedreven op gitaren en drums. Hun debuutdemo 'Tomorrow I might feel different' (dec. 2007) over de zoektocht naar het eeuwige geluk, liet lang op zich wachten, maar zodra de eerste klanken door de speakers stoten, is het hun eensklaps vergeven: knappe melodieën en haakse ritmes zoeken hun weg naar betere oorden waar Sonic Youth en Millionaire al eens om de hoek durven komen kijken. The Rebelines houden van rock omdat ze ervan houden gitaar te spelen. Ze houden van gitaarspelen omdat een gitaar eruit ziet als een vrouw en aanvoelt als een geweer. Het inmiddels in Gent residerende rockensemble is overigens niet aan zijn proefstuk toe: in 2005 sleepten the Rebelines brons in de wacht tijdens de finale van het West-Vlaamse rockconcours Westtalent.
