| Founded in 2004, QAT is a Montreal quartet dedicated to the performance and premiering of contemporary music. During its performances QAT wishes to provide alternate perspectives on the traditional classical concert form. The ensemble collaborates regularly with professionals from other artistic domains such as theater, dance and the visual arts. QAT’s shows therefore integrate many extra-musical elements such as lighting, staging, movement and video. The ensemble wishes in this way to offer the listener a gateway into a new and perhaps deeper appreciation and understanding of contemporary music. QAT, ensemble à géométrie variable, se consacre à l’interprétation de pièces contemporaines de tous horizons. Fondé en 2004, l’ensemble se distingue par sa volonté de redéfinir le concert traditionnel en lui donnant une facture qui corresponde à la sensibilité d’aujourd’hui. C’est en élaborant le contexte entourant la musique, la scène, que QAT souhaite accroître la qualité du contact entre l’auditeur et la musique. Pour ce faire, l’ensemble a recours à plusieurs expédients artistiques et technologiques : éclairages, mise en espace, improvisation, mouvement, poésie, projections. Cette direction vise à attirer un public vaste, à ancrer le concert dans un contexte actuel et à offrir de nouvelles formes pour la présentation de la musique. |
