philippe kenny was born february 5th 1988 in st. Joseph's hospital, memphis , Tennessee. at the age of 3, he left the US with his mom to come and settle in switzerland in citys like Estavayer-le-lac, geneva and bienne.
At the age of 7, (1995) TONY MAC, (NSF) gave him a copy of ''here come the lords'' and ever since, he's been tuned to hip hop and learned his way of living, thanks to artists like NAS, ONYX, REDMAN, JIN, EMINEM, and loads of others.
he's now working on his first album, with people such as beatmaker KSA, producer, beatmaker and mc, KALA, and hardcore rapper FARY, which his coming in, november 1st.
downgekel being his performing name, is due to the fact that he loves underground music and atmosphere and the word ''down'' gives people the direction. One of philippe's favorite books, is ''Doctor jekyll and mr. Hyde'' by Robert Louis Stevenson, in which the narrator pulls us into a double personnality, such as good/bad, knowing that we all have a bad person in us.
Finally, changing the order of letters in ''downgekel'', one can find the word knowledge, which means alot to someone who's asking himself the right questions.

-FRANCAIS-Philippe Kenny est né le 5 février 1988 à Memphis, dans le Tennessee. A l'age de 3ans, il quitte les Etats-Unis, avec sa mère, pour venir s'installer en Suisse, dans des villes comme Estavayer-le-lac, Genève et Bienne.
A l'age de 7ans (en 1995), TONY MAC, (NSF) lui donne une copie de ''here come the lords'' et depuis lors, le hip hop complète son existence et il s'enfonca peu à peu dans le rap et cela grace à des artistes tels que NAS, ONYX, REDMAN, JIN ,EMINEM et beaucoup d'autres.
Actuellement, il travaille sur son 1er album, accompagné du beatmaker KSA, producteur, beatmaker et mc, KALA, et mc FARY, lequel sortira le 1er novembre 2007.
Si DOWNGEKEL est son nom d'artiste, c'est du au fait qu'il est tellement profond dans les sous sols de l'underground dans la musique et l'atmosphere et le mot ''down'' (de l'anglais ''en bas'') donne la direction aux auditeurs. L'un des livres les plus appréciés de philippe, est '' Le doctor Jekyll and mr. Hyde'' de Robert Louis Stevenson, dans lequel le narrateur nous tire dans une histoire où le personnage principal est confronté à une double personnalité, symbolisant le mal et le bien,sachant qu'on a tous un coté obscur en nous.
Enfin, en changeant l'ordre des lettres de ''downgekel'', on trouve le mot ''knowledge'' (de l'anglais ''sagesse''), ce qui iimporte beaucoup à beaucoup de personnes lorqu'elles se posent les bonnes questions.
