| Who the hell is Preston and why are they so creepy looking? Two good questions; one I can answer, the other only God knows (we think it might have to do with the water in Riverside,CA). Preston is a fictional character that plays the central role in the stories the band’s lyrics are conceived from. The songs tell his stories. They are written to reflect his habitual conflict with his doomed future as a high school drop out and his spirit to succeed in a society he has come to hate. Preston (the character) and his friends live through depression, anxiety, drug issues, and of course enjoying their youth. Preston is the product of suburban mediocrity and he knows it. The songs are grounded in the root of the pop-punk lifestyle and the stories reflect the importance of becoming an individual in a scene, a town and a country all built on pressures to buy in and become the same. The songs range from light hearted melodic rock that mirror the innocence of Preston’s age to full out fast hard rock n’ roll. All in the vain of such acts like Jawbreaker, early The Promise Ring, Goldfinger, Sunny Day Real Estate and Lagwagon. The members of Preston (the band) are all from Riverside. Their lives inspire the stories of Preston. Every member has been listening to Alternative Rock and going to shows at the Barn and The Showcase Theatre in the Inland Empire for most of their lives. Musicians first and foremost the guys have been playing for as long as they’ve been going to shows. Their live show consists of chaotic “going off” but kept tight (as long as Geoff and Evan don’t kick each other in the face, Then it’s on like Donkey Kong). The band is working on completing the songs for their first album which they hope to have done by next September. This summer they will be hitting the road in their new van across the country playing venue dates and the Vans Warped Tour. They look forward to NOT getting arrested and eating lots of meat. Except for Kevin who thinks meat is murder. John and Geoff think its murder too, but tasty.
