About Me |
|
Sheila Graham - singer (mezzo-soprano), actor, musician, writer, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Perform in a range of styles, from opera through to cabaret, GAS and Celtic. Mainly a singer, but also act, and play - in the broadest possible sense of the term! - piano, keyboards, acoustic guitar (finger-picking), bass, and bowed psaltery. Have sometimes worked as musical director/arranger. Also write shows/plays for myself and others to perform. Recent one-woman shows include Kern't Help Lovin' (the life and work of Jerome Kern), Some Silly, Satirical, Slightly Scandalous Songs (title says it all, really!) and Take Me To Your Lieder (classical songs and poetry on various themes). Wrote Edinburgh Festival Fringe show in 2005 entitled The One And A Half Sopranos Seek Sponsors!, which unleashed the Grantonian State Opera Company on an unsuspecting public, and which The Stage described as 'a fun show, energetic and entertaining, and featuring two fantastic singers, Graham the mezzo and Easton the soprano.' Recently survived the world premiere (blimey! that sounds terribly grand!) of Tea with Clarinda, a play written by myself with songs by Robert Burns and Nancy McLehose (Clarinda). Actors were Cheryl Anne Easton, as Jean Armour Burns, and myself as Clarinda. To my great relief, got excellent audience feedback, and we will be touring it in 2009, the year of The Homecoming - maybe see you at one of our venues? Please check out the Myspace Tea With Clarinda page (click the link in My Friends) for more info. Am writing various shows at the moment - watch this space! - and am still proud to be a member of the sadly-depleted Grantonian State Opera Company, and send best wishes to all fellow-Grantonians! If you're listening to the songs on this page, thank you! (I sound better live, but then, most singers would say that about themselves!) On Mr Right the pianist is Simon, and on Wie Melodien it's Ingrid. Am planning to win Euromillions quite soon, so that I can have unlimited time in the best recording studio in the world with the best producer and sound engineer - well, I can dream! Thanks for dropping by, and come again soon! |

I am mainly a singer (mezzo-soprano) and actor, but as I also play various instruments, after a fashion, maybe I could call myself a one-woman band, if I could get the hang of playing them all at once!
