| Szabolcs Oláh was born in 1982 in Budapest. He started to play the violin at the age of 8 in at the State Music School in Bicske, then in Járdányi Pál Music School in Budapest. At the age of 15 he began to play the guitar, and became a private pupil of Attila Csikós. He also went to the Erkel Ferenc Music School to study with József Pap. In 2001 he attended to the Liszt Ferenc Academy Of Music where he studied guitar with Gyula Babos and Sándor Horányi. He graduated in 2005 with the highest honors. In 2007 he participated the ’Roma Jazz’s cool’ jazz course organized by the Saint Louis College Of Music in Italy where he studied with Adam Rogers, Rosario Giuliani, Maurizio Giammarco, Cinzia Spata and Susanna Stivali. Since 2001 he performs with different ensemble-settings in Hungary, and he writes music for his quartet. In the recent years he had a chance to play with famous hungarian musicians such as Kornél Fekete-Kovács, Kálmán Oláh, László Dés, Elemér Balázs, György Vukán, Béla Szakcsi-Lakatos. In 2005 as a member of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, he performed with Bob Mintzer, Jasper Van't Hof, and Matus Jakabcic. Since the autumn of 2005 he’s a member of the hungarian Modern Art Orchestra with which he worked together with Julian Joseph and Wallace Roney among others. In 2007 he wrote and arranged a suite for the band.
