The 9th annual festival will be held June 8-16th, 2007 at the Palms Casino Resort and will combine the excitement of world premiere films and celebrity tributes with the allure of Vegas nightlife. CineVegas highlights up and coming filmmakers, as well as masters of the craft, and has attracted the likes of Jack Nicholson, Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman, Christina Ricci, Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Stacy Peralta, Ann-Margret, Helen Mirren, Takashi Miike, and David Lynch in years past. Under the direction of festival president Robin Greenspun, CineVegas has established itself as one of the hottest and fastest growing film festivals in the world, with recent profiles in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and TIME Magazine. CineVegas was recently mentioned as one of the top 5 small fests to visit by Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper and was also named one of the top 5 gem festivals in the world by Variety, one of the top 12 film festivals in North America by San Francisco Magazine and one of the top 7 events occurring in Las Vegas in 2007 by LA Weekly. 2006 Marquee Award Honoree: Helen Mirren Past Marquee Award Recipients

So, if you’re like us and you love waiting in line all day in the snow, you hate having fun, and you like fist fighting for swag, don’t ever go to CineVegas. Also, Mike Plante and Trevor Groth are the biggest tools in film festival programming. I mean, maybe you’re into hanging out with a couple of guys who are really nice and who genuinely love movies and really go out of their way to “take care of you,” then fine, go to CineVegas. I prefer to spend my time at the Art of Cinematic Achievement International Film Festival, where I can banter back and forth with insecure filmmakers about how their digital image looked really "crisp." Let’s face it. Cinevegas just sucks: they made us have fun, and gave us a great hotel room, and sold out all of our screenings. Don’t go there, ever.” |
