(This page is built and run by fans) ****************************************************** In 2000, The Afghan Whigs disbanded after a 14-year run. Much has already been written about those days but it's safe to say that the Whigs were one of the most influential and critically-acclaimed bands to come out of the alternative rock scene of the early 90's - well known for songwriter/guitarist/singer Greg Dulli's unflinching lyrics and the bands' consistently amazing live shows. Fast forward to the present. Dulli's current band, The Twilight Singers , which began as a side project between the AW releases Black Love and 1965, is now a well established act on its own terms, continuing to attract new fans and raise the bar with their live shows and LPs. AW bass player John Curley has 2 kids and runs a recording studio in Cincinnati. Curley's current band, The Staggering Statistics has been receiving attention for its latest CD, "All of this and more..." Lead guitarist Rick McCollum lives in Minneapolis. Rick's band, Moonmaan, released their debut LP in early 2007. Drummer Michael Horrigan has also kept busy- living in Detroit and playing bass in Brendan Benson's band as well as drums in Five Horse Johnson. The Afghan Whigs recently got together in the studio for the first time since 2000 to record new tracks for inclusion on a Whigs retrospective entitled "Unbreakable" which is out right now. In case you are just catching up now, the Twilight Singers have released four albums and one EP to date: Twilight as Played By the Twilight Singers (2000) Blackberry Belle (2003) She Loves You (2004) Powder Burns (2006) A Stitch In Time (EP) (2006) Greg Dulli has also recently released his first solo album, Amber Headlights. Greg Dulli's Amber Headlights (2005) Renowned for their untouchable live act, the band toured the world in 2003-4 and 2006-7, playing to sold out audiences. They are one of the rare bands loved by critics and fans alike. Recently Greg has teamed up with Mark Lanegan to form the Gutter Twins . The Gutter Twins was born out of a rumor told by Lanegan to a journalist after the two artists began collaborating together in various ways in 2002. What started as a rumor grew into an honest and raw record, and while Saturnalia brings together the driving forces behind '90s favorites, the record does not rest on the sonic laurels of these singer's previous successes. They have released one album to date, Saturnalia.
