About Me |
|
Nathan and Rob got the chance to appear in a commercial about the Detroit art community, speaking alongside Detroit icons like Mick Collins and Jim Diamond . It was shot by Jamie Sonderman , Mike Madigan , and Matt Peach . It was edited by Marc-Antoine Serou , and the music is by Clark A. Eagling . Produced by Thought Collide and LFS . ------------------- BIO: Brewed in the heart of Detroit's Cass Corridor by way of a small town in Kalamazoo, johnny mundane & the sweetspots originally formed as a two-piece singer/songwriter duo in 2003. Brothers Christopher and Nathan Czochara later added the heart-pounding drum beat of Troy's Rob Gulley to create the brash three-piece that exists today. Christopher, a guitar player since age eleven, moved to Detroit nearly eight years ago and kept to himself musically until his brother, Nathan, was able to move to the city mid-2003. Upon forming, the duo began writing immediately, producing songs that illustrated a definitive sound while paying respect to a variety of musical influences both present and past. Still, the sound was incomplete, pushing the brothers to seek a drummer both musically diverse and beat savvy. The search ended when Gulley joined in the early fall of 2004. Having played guitar and drums in various bands with a multitude of sounds, Gulley had developed the musical know- how the group needed. The music of johnny mundane & the sweet spots, a moniker created to juxtapose the usual grayness of life against its small and infrequent joys, is a jagged blend of blues and rock. The sound represents what rock should always be - simple and honest, lovely and heartbreaking. It is a sound as sentimental as it is cynical - as reassuring as is it is troublesome. johnny mundane & the sweet spots are the newest of the new to knock on the door of Detroit's celebrated rock scene and it is only a matter of time before they let themselves in.
