| Marie aka Blackiechan was born on March 26, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Frantz and Marie-Ange Exantus, both Haitian-American citizens. The family moved to North Miami Beach in 1986, and she's been a South Florida girl ever since. In high school, Marie was active in band and chorus and did volunteer community service on the side. After joining the high school band program playing saxophone, she quickly rose through the ranks and became drum major her junior and senior year. Since graduating from North Miami Beach High in 1995, she enrolled at Miami-Dade Community college and joined the University of Miami "Band of the Hour" for three years, performing first in the color guard and then marching saxophone. In regards to work experiences, she has worked a variety of jobs ranging from retail, teaching, nightclub promotions, and sales. However, music and a concern for South Florida's underprivileged have always been her first love. After moving back from the St.Pete/Tampa Bay area in 2001 she received an A.S. Degree in Natural Health Science from Florida College of Natural Health in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Marie is currently a kick-ass massage therapist who is nationally and state board certified L.M.T #MA42036 Nat'L Certified #404226-00 in a variety of techniques. After kicking around majors for the last ten years, Marie finally decided to pursue Philosophy with a minor in Political Science. Hopefully to finish her Bachelors in 2009-10 and then enrolling in Law School. Since volunteering with the Miami IMC http://miami.indymedia.org and as an independent blogger for TheTechGurus.netShe covered diverse events including the 2003 FTAA protests in Miami, the First Presidential Debate at the University of Miami, the Republican National Convention in New York, and the 2005 Inaugural in Washington, DC, in addition to many other local events over the last couple of years. She contributed, as a photojournalist, outreach coordinator and editor. On August 28, 2005 Marie alongside, Charles Lawrence and Osvaldo Veras started Antidote Productions, Inc., which is a comprehensive Bookings, Artist/Modeling Management, Event Planning, Multi-Media Production and Photography agency.
