Ro , birth name Rose Marshall, was born on November 8, 1983 in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. She was the last child and only female born to Steven and Sheryl Marshall. When Ro was a young child, her mother, Sheryl, decided to move away from the children's father and take them with her farther east on the island, to Suffolk County. This is where Ro and her two older brothers, Devon and Darren, were raised by their single mother, who struggled each day to provide the best for her children. Throughout grade school, Ro was an Honor Roll student, as well as a student athlete. She participated on the basketball teams, up to the varsity level. Ro departed high school a semester ahead of her class, graduating with a Regent's diploma. She took a semester off from school after her high school graduation, but continued her education the following semester, majoring in Sports Management at Saint John's University in Queens, New York. It was Ro 's plan to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, and then continue with law school in order to become a Sports Agent. However, due to a lack of finances, Ro was forced to leave Saint John's University. She was able to continue her learning by enrolling at Suffolk County Community College back in Long Island, where she graduated with honors, receiving an Associate's Degree in General Studies in May 2005. Now, after taking another year and a half off from school, once again due to the financial situation, Ro is back at it again. She is currently enrolled within the City University of New York, double-majoring in Business Administration and Audio Engineering. It was only recently that Ro decided to try her hand in the music industry. Tired of living in poverty and fed up with not being able to change the circumstances around her, Ro felt that changes needed to be made in her life. Greatly inspired by Assata Shakur's book, Assata: An Autobiography, and also by the life and works of the late Tupac Shakur, Ro realized that in order to truly make a difference, she needed to first be heard. She stepped inside of a recording booth for the first time in the year 2005. On her grind as usual, even though in an unfamiliar setting, Ro left the studio that night with six songs fully completed, after a session of only six hours! Ro had finally found a platform to let her voice be heard. The future seemed bright, but the struggle was yet to come. Following a series of events and misfortunes, Ro ended up homeless and looking for a new place to call home. After thinking hard and weighing her options, Ro decided to pick up and migrate to Brooklyn, New York. This is the place where Ro built a new life for herself. Brooklyn was the new place that Ro called home. And Ro 's new hustle: spittin' fire. Ro has been working withing the underground musc industry for about two years now. During this period, she has recorded and released two complete-length promotional albums. Just An Introduction and Back Again. The third project, Evolution of a Soldier, is currently in motion. Not only is Ro building a name for herself as an artist, but she is also building a name for her newly-found sole proprietorship, Fire Musiq, whose focus is to bring education and motivation to the urban music scene. Working with artists and producers from New York to California, and down to Georgia, Ro and Fire Musiq are gaining weight throughout the underground music scene, and are continuing to network along the way. Big things are going on. This is history in the making. The is, the Evolution of a Soldier. Maybe it is true that we are not where we planned to be at this point in life, but if we objectively look at where we were "then" and then look at where we are "now," the progress is clear.
