.. .. .. --------- Miami Based Latin Percussionist (Edwin Torres) with over (40+) Years of Experience. Edwin Torres is One of the Most Solicited Latin Percussionist in the Latin Music Market Today...with his Incredible, Mezmorizing, Remarkable Speed, Acuracy and OverAll Knowlegde in Latin Music in General. Edwin Torres began playing Latin Percussion at the early age of (2) yrs. since (1968) taught by his Older Brother, (Freddy Torres) who was also a Multi-Talented Percussionist at the time. By age (5)yrs. in (1971), Edwin began playing Timbales in his Father's Conjunto known as "El Cano de Vega Baja y su Conjunto". During this time, Edwin became very Proficient at playing Traditional PuertoRican Folkler Music and Accompanied Many Local Artists throughout the Chicagoland Area. Edwin Began his Recording Career as a Latin Percussionist by (1973) at the age of (8) yrs. til' the Present Year (2008). The first Salsa Orquestra Edwin started to play with in (1975) was with (Orquesta Juventud Y Experiencia) with His Older Brother (Freddy Torres) on Baby Bass led by Felix "Shorty" Ramirez. By (1980), Edwin then went on to Play Timbales with (Chocolate Y Sus Estrellas) with Older Brother (Ernesto "Tito" Torres) on Piano and by (1984) He then became part of Orquestra "La Tipica Leal 79" where Edwin was recognized and awarded as "Most Valuable Musician" and "Timablero of the Year" (Award) at the Coors Jazz Festival in (1985). Edwin Torres has worked with "All" of the Best Latin Salsa Bands in Chicago including a National Tour to Puerto Rico with The (Chicago All-Stars) in (April,1996) where Edwin excelled tremendously!! in Puerto Rico and started to gain Notarioty with the Big Name Artists at that time. Edwin then made a Change of Location and moved to Sunny Miami, Florida by the end of (December,1996) and has Backed Up "every" Major Latin Artists ranging from (Luis Enriquez up to Rey Ruiz) as Edwin Torres now playing Timbales has Toured the Entire Globe (3) times to this Present Date, backing up Many Artists such as (Lefty Perez, Luis Enrique, Eddie Santigo, Jesus "El Nino" Alejandro, Charlie Cruz, Anthony Cruz, The Great "Cachao", Frankie Negron, Jay Lozada, Vico (C), Kevin Ceballo, Pedro Jesus, Loren Daniels, Tito Allen, Adalberto Santiago, Ismael Miranda, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Yomo Toro, Ismael Rivera Jr., David Pabon, Rey Ruiz) and many more Artists far too long to mention for lack of space.
