| ENGLISH: . . . . . the carinthian jazz-funk-soul formation "mih group" has already been founded in 1997. originally mih group had seven members, in 2003 the band was reformed. today five musicians make the band - their mission is to rehearse their own compositions as well as compositions from well-known artists as grover washington, stevie wonder, bill withers, george benson, joe sample and so on . . . . . . describing the group's music, "diversified" would fit best - as they unify various elements with a focus on jazz, funk and soul. listening, you'll find out that several tracks occasionally consist of rock or blues elements, while others in turn consist of latin rhythm, as samba or bossa nova. tracks alternate between vocal and instrumental, original compositions and that of famous musicians, in between leaving enough space for improvisation . . . . . . in fall 2005 mih group's first cd "look ahead" has been reelased, consisting solely of original compositions . . . famous austrian jazz artists and friends, as pianist tonc feinig or dutch jazz vocalist caroline de rooij, who lives in vienna, participated as special guests. the brass section was completed by trombonist mario vavti and trumpeter izidor leitinger, while klaus lippitsch was shining on percussion instruments . . .----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- DEUTSCH: . . . . . die kärntner jazz-funk-soul formation “mih group” wurde bereits 1997 gegründet und bestand ursprünglich aus sieben mitgliedern. nach einer längeren pause formierte sich die band im jahre 2003 neu. heute zählt die gruppe fünf musiker, die sich die aufgabe gestellt haben sowohl eigene, als auch kompositionen von bekannten musiker-persönlichkeiten wie grover washington, stevie wonder, bill withers, george benson, joe sample, ... etc. für ihre konzerte einzustudieren . . . . . . die musik kann man durchaus als breit gefächert bezeichnen - vereinen sich doch verschiedenste musikelemente zu einem ganzen. das hauptaugenmerk liegt im jazz, funk und soul. bei genauem hinhören aber, wird man in manchen nummern gelegentlich auch rock- oder blueselemente finden, in anderen wiederum lateinamerikanische rhythmen, wie samba und bossa nova. vokal- und instrumentalnummern, aber auch eigenkompositionen und kompositionen von bekannten musikerpersönlichkeiten wechseln einander ab, zwischendurch aber bleibt genügend freiraum zur improvisation . . . . . .im herbst 2005 erschien mih group´s erste cd mit dem titel "look ahead". darauf zu hören sind ausschließlich eigenkompositionen . . . als sogenannte "special guests" wirkten bei der cd-produktion auch namhafte österreichische jazzmusiker und freunde, wie z.b. pianist tonc feinig oder die in wien lebende holländische jazzsängerin caroline de rooij mit. posaunist mario vavti und trompeter izidor leitinger vervollständigten die brass section und klausi lippitsch "geigte" auf seinen percussion instumenten auf . . . . . | |
