Hacer del tango un nuevo espacio donde se reflejen las intensidades y los meandros de esta época. Su desempeño en la actualidad respeta el modelo con el que fue concebida: el ambicioso proyecto de producir nuevos arreglos sobre las viejas obras maestras del tango, a la vez de iniciar un nuevo lenguaje tanguero con obras nuevas en el género, manteniendo la tradicional formación de “Orquesta Típica”.Con presentaciones en diversos centros de difusión del tango en la actualidad, ha realizado shows en la milonga de la Confitería Ideal, en Unitango, en el Café Tortoni, en el salón Canning (milonga Parakultural), en el palacio San Miguel, en la Milonga de los Jueves, en el Centro Cultural Torcuatto Tasso, en el C.C. de la Cooperación, además de su presentación semanal cada domingo en la esquina de Carlos Calvo y Defensa, siendo una de las atracciones turísticas que otorgan a San Telmo el estandarte de centro del Tango, tanto por su cantidad de espectáculos como por su calidad. En su no demasiado extenso período de vida la Orquesta ya ha acompañado a cantores de la talla de Omar Mollo. Asimismo se encuentra en preparación un acercamiento musical con el exitoso conjunto de murga uruguaya, Los Balbis.Entre sus integrantes se encuentran:Hernán Cabrera, pianista, director y fundador de la Orquesta Típica Ciudad Baigón, además de ser quien ha compuesto el primer tango original de la Orquesta: “Permiso”; Germán Sánchez, contrabajista y arreglador; Julián Peña, en el cello; Joaquín Ohrnialian, en Viola; Marcela Vigide, Natacha Tello y Gabriel Gowezniansky, en violines; Matías Génova, Pablo Jonisz, Nicolás Kornblihtt y Federico Buratti, en bandoneones; y Alejo Raimondi, en voz.________________________________________________________ ________ The “ Orquesta Típica Ciudad Baigón” ( Typical Tango Orchestra Ciudad Baigón ) was founded with a concrete purpose and a clear mission : to rescue Tango from the pitiful role it has been playing in popular music these last few years . And to make Tango a new realm in which the present-day intensity and meanderings might be reflected. The orchestra’s current performance style of tango music respects the aim with which it was conceived : an ambitious project to produce new arrangements on old Tango masterpieces, while at the same time creating a new “tango- language” with new compositions of the genre, faithful to the traditional approach of the “Orquesta Típica”.The orchestra has perfomed in varied centres responsible for the widespread of tango, and has given several concerts at : the milonga de la Confitería Ideal; Unitango; Café Tortoni; Canning Hall (milonga Parakultural); Palacio San Miguel; Milonga de los jueves; Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso and CC de la Cooperación. Furthermore, it has a weekly performance every Sunday at the corner of Carlos Calvo and Defensa streets, standing out as one of the main tourist attractions that have earned the neighbourhood of San Telmo its fame as Tango Centre, both for the quantity and quality of its typical shows.Along its relatively short existence, the orchestra has already accompanied singers of the stature of Omar Mollo.
