__ i've been making music of one form or another since i was a child. nowadays i use an entirely 'soft' sample-based approach - collaging live instruments, synthesized textures, the human voice, field recordings and other treated sounds. traffic, speech, birdsong, a passing aeroplane, radio static, running water.. when these collide it is all music to me. my productions regularly include elements of these and other found sounds. i also like to 'con-fuse' the organic and the electronic, simulating one with the other - often to the point that the origin of the sound becomes unclear. i'm interested in sensitivity and detail. i don't make impact music. i care little for trends. my aim is to make deep, engaging and ambiguous soundscapes that reward repeated listening and require just as much emotional investment as they elicit emotional response. i'm also a multi-instrumentalist and perform much of what you hear. in addition to my studio projects i’m playing live with anne garner and looking forward to taking my solo and slowcraft material on stage this year. jm 21/03/07 ____________________________________________________________ __ message comment add ____________________________________________________________ __ 26/03/07 'the miracle of transport ep' i'm delighted to announce my debut release on part2 records 'the miracle of transport ep' is a collection of five pieces from the darker end of my repertoire, exploring a more sinister side to our relationship with technology. this release is already enjoying excellent feedback and marks the launch of a vital new netlabel. it's available now as a FREE download. as ever, feedback is much appreciated. jm ____________________________________________________________ __ |
