| I have always wanted to be surrounded by music. Aged 4 1/2 I started Tap dancing, Ballet and Modern dance. At 5 1/2, due to the love of dance but especially the sound the steel tap made on our assembly hall floor, I got a severe telling off at school for removing the varnished surface. I danced till the age of thirteen.I started to play aged 11 what was to become my most personal favorite instrument the Double Bass, it has a special place in my heart. I would go to the music academy twice a week and on the Saturday I would play in the orchestra.Aged 17 I had singing lessons at Leyton Youth Centre. I'm a great believer of trying to make the very best of what i've got; especially my voice. I would practice some studio one tunes and the likes of Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaac's and Jacob Miller with my friends.Aged 18-21 I worked with a production company called "7th Heaven",where we recorded an album, and the co-founder Everis Pellius was my singing tutor for some time. He also intruduced me to M-Beat whom I recorded the jungle version of "Sweet Love" with in December 1994, which I really loved because it had a great bass drop. I met Stevie V whilst on tour in the dressing rooms singing accapella to my dancers to feel their flow. I was offered to re-vocalise "Dirty cash" (money talks). I thought the original artist in the eighties was really great and had a really nice sound. Around this time I also had singing lessons with a great tutor called Levoy who moved away.I had my first son in 1990 followed by my daughter 1998 and my last son 2000. I took time out to raise my last two babies; as I recognised through my first born that touring the world meant I missed him painfully and missed out on his early development. Now my children have strong foundations and technology provides the web-cam hooray! I am now ready. This new tune Your Energy the music was written, produced and mixed by DJ Slamma and I wrote Lryics and melody.I am currently developing skills in creating my own music, songwriting and production - watch this space!Love Nazlyn x | |
