Music:Member Since: 08/10/2007Band Website: http://www.korlapandit.com Band Members: Before Liberace there was Korla Pandit! Acknowledged Godfather Of Exotica, Korla Pandit was a masterful musician and a mysterious Mesmerist, famous for his lips, his eyes, and his turban with the Smokey Topaz jewel and hypnotic dangling Diamond. For all his years on Television, he never uttered a word, instead gazing dreamily into the camera and into the hearts and imaginations of millions upon millions of viewers, communicating solely through his own Universal Language Of Music, simultaneously playing the keyboards of his Hammond C-3 Electronic Organ and Steinway Grand Piano, serving to inspire Martin Denny, Les Baxter, and Arthur Lyman, just to name a few. Korla Pandit's concertizing was seen and heard via Snader Telescriptions and Television programs by music lovers around the world. Friend and confidant to Paramahansa Yogananda, Sabu, restauranteurs Don The Beachcomber & Trader Vic, and famed San Francisco Chronicle newspaper scribe Herb Caen, Korla Pandit was unique and beloved by countless legions of admirers over the years, not the least of whom included The Amazing Criswell, Mae West, and Ed Wood (Korla Pandit made a cameo appearance as himself in the late film maker's biopic directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp!) Korla Pandit left his mortail coil October 2, 1998, leaving a Legacy for Romantics the world over to experience and enjoy. His Universal Language Of Music can be heard to this day in the many recordings left behind by music's most mysterious moghul. In these memorable words of Korla Pandit, "Music may not save your soul, but it will cause your soul to be worth saving." Be sure to visit the Official Korla Pandit Memorial Website at http://www.korlapandit.com for a complete overview of the man, his music, and most fascinating life! Influences: Korla Pandit, himself recognized as The Godfather Of Exotica, was, indeed, a strong influence on Martin Denny and Les Baxter, among other popular musicians of the era. Sounds Like: Korla Pandit created his own "sound", often imitated, but never duplicated. Record Label: Dejavu Record Company Type of Label: Indie |
