Producteur, Auteur, Compositeur, Arrangeur, Ingénieur du son, Interprète, Alain Sawaya est né à Bamako (Mali) en 1965. Il y vécut 14 années avant de partir pour la Cote -d’Ivoire avec sa famille. En 1982, il monta un groupe avec 7 amis du collège qui portait le nom de « Cool System ». Ils enchaînèrent concerts et prestations publiques avec un très grand succès. Puis, « Cool System » devint « Parallèle 8 » et le groupe fut produit et sortit son premier 45 tours ( ! hé oui ! A l’époque, les CDS n’existaient pas !) qui connut un franc succès. Ensuite, Alain partit pour le Canada (Montréal) ou il acheva sa licence en Publicité Marketing et fit des stages en ingénierie du son et techniques d’enregistrement. Il revint ensuite en Cote -d’Ivoire ou il enchaîna stages et emplois divers dans le domaine de la Publicité avant d’être rattrapé par les démons de la musique ! En 1989, il entreprit d’ouvrir un studio d’enregistrements a Abidjan, en Cote-d’Ivoire, qu’il baptisa « Studio Séquence ». Dès lors, il enchaîna l’enregistrement et la production de dizaines d’artistes (plus de 750 albums en enregistrement, et plus de 50 productions avec divers partenaires tels †Marcellin Yacé) et fut même à l’origine d’un renouveau, ainsi que de divers courants de la musique Ivoirienne de par sa collaboration avec d’innombrables talents de la place. Ce faisant, il fut engagé, en 1991, comme animateur sur la deuxième chaîne de Radio de l’état Ivoirien : « Fréquence 2 », ou ses émissions connurent un succès tel qu’il fut nommé, en 2000, Meilleur Animateur ayant l’émission la plus écoutée. Pendant cette période, il composa, co-arrangea avec Olivier Blé et interpréta un titre intitulé « Terre d’Ivoire », écrit par Stéphanie Farhat, qui abordait les problèmes sociaux que traversait la Cote -d’Ivoire, et ce titre devint rapidement un grand standard. Puis, fort de toutes ces expériences, il entreprit, en 2004 au Liban, l’enregistrement de son premier album solo intitulé « Virus » en collaboration avec Stéphanie Farhat et Boudy Naoum. L’un des titres extrait de cet album et intitulé « Young Girl » amorça le succès international d’Alain Sawaya. Depuis lors, il enchaîne les collaborations diverses avec des artistes du Moyen-Orient, d’Europe et d’Afrique (entre autres noms : Walid Toufik, Dolly Chahine, Stéphanie Farhat, Fady, Paolo Kay, Wajdi Lakhel, Daydream, Lamice, etc…) en tant que compositeur, arrangeur et parfois interprète.Producer, Author, Composer, Arranger, Sound Engineer and Performer, Alain Sawaya was born in Bamako (Mali) in 1965. He lived there for 14 years, and then moved with his family to Abidjan (Ivory Coast). His first musical band was “Cool System” that became “Parallele 8”, at school, where he created his first single and started performing live. He did his Advertising and Marketing studies in Montreal (Canada), where he kept on composing and learning sound engineering. In 1989, he came back to his mother land and opened a recording studio in Abidjan. Since that time, he recorded more than 750 albums and produced more than 50 albums with many partners, such as †Marcellin Yacé, becoming one of the main triggers in creating and developing a new musical wave in Ivory Coast. In 1991, he launched 5 programs on a local FM Radio Station named “Frequence 2”, becoming one of the most listened to radio presenter. Meanwhile, along with Stephanie Farhat and Olivier Blé, he composed the famous song “Terre d’Ivoire” which became a hit in the entire African continent, since it handled the social and political problems in Ivory Coast. In 2004, he freed himself for his first love: composing and singing. He worked on his first Album “Virus” with Stephanie Farhat and Boudy Naoum, a mixture of all his musical experiences. The song “Young Girl” launched his international career. Since then, he’s working with a lot of Oriental, European and African artists (Walid Toufik, Dolly Chahine, Stéphanie Farhat, Fady, Paolo Kay, Wajdi Lakhel, Daydream, Lamice, etc…) as a composer, arranger, producer and sometimes performer.
