Trombonist Rembert James hails from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia where he studied classical music with the Royal Police Force Band. In 1976, he united with legendary trombonist and arranger Melba Liston to conduct jazz workshops throughout the Caribbean. Rembert spent two years studying jazz improvisation in Jamaica after which he accepted a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. H reunited in New York with Melba Liston touring with her jazz ensemble and the historic Jazz Mobile where he performed with Curtis Fuller, Al Grey, James Spaulding and many other jazz greats. |
