Prayer for Today - God With Us / Beyond Us

" [Jesus said] ...and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.

As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55: 8 & 9)

O Lord, Almighty and everlasting Father. we marvel that you are both with us and beyond. us. How can this be? Your transcendence is absolute. You are other than we are, and inner essence is unknowable to our limited understanding. Nonetheles, O Lord, you have made yourself known in the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. In him does all your fullness dwell. He promised us that he would be with us always to the end of the ages. This boggles our minds. Jesus says, if those who his voice and opens the door of their hearts, he will come into them and dine in intimacy with them.
Thank you, O Lord, that you are both high and eternal, ineffible, and beyond our comprehansion, and yet near, personal, present, and comforting. We we extol you in your glorious majesty, even while we cherish your constant presence within us. You are wondrous, O Lord of Highest Heaven, O Lord of our humble hearts. Amen.
