My Interests |
|
Music:Member Since: 8/25/2005Band Website: catherinefeeny.com Band Members: Catherine Feeny (guitar/vocals), Sebastian Rogers (electric guitar), Tony Gethin (piano/wurlitzer), Tricks (drums and percussion), Paul (bass) and Ian Burdge (cello). Influences: the smiths, ani difranco, pj harvey, the cure, sinead o'conner, paul simon, joni mitchell, sonic youth, crosby stills nash and young, edie brickell, pat benatar, dolly parton, whitney houston, emmy lou harris and a million others i can't remember right now Sounds Like: "Feeny has made an album that any fan of Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell and early Sheryl Crow will be happy to place on the same shelf. Her song mr Blue, all spectral piano, funereal brass and solicitous lyrics....should soon be unavoidable on radio. Hurricane Glass is one of those albums that soothes the listener into quietude with strummed guitar and mellifluous vocal lines - and only then coils its complications and ambiguities around you. "I won't bury you in the basement/As i've been know to do" soars over the sweetest of backings. You miss it first time; only later do you think: "What did she just say?".Dan Cairns, The Sunday Times Record Label: Tallgrass Type of Label: Indie |
