Rocked all its childhood by the disco rhythms and by the e. sounds precursors of the techno, Elle Smiley had only a single idea, to make music and nothing else! At the age of 16, Elle buys her first turntables but still has no permission to go out late at night... When Elle becomes older, Elle discovers the night and the techno parties … At 20 years old, Elle turns her mind during the “ Printemps de Bourges “festival during the HEXAGONA 97 party with CARL COX, RICHIE HAWTIN, LUKE SLATER, JEFF MILES, ALEX K and many more. Still looking for the perfection and still determined to become professional DJ , Elle leaves for a DJ school near Geneva on the Swiss border. After some experiences as DJ in clubs, Elle begins to feel little in the narrow. Elle enters the Rave universe … At the age of 21, Elle organizes her first techno party with the JUMPING BASS crew, not called yet “ElleSmiley” but "SARQ" and play beside TORGULL, RICKKS, DOUGH ROLL, ST JEAN and P.MOORE. In 1999, the SPACE, famous club in Lyon organizes a mix contest. Elle sends a mixtape and is selected. Elle wins a share 1st place with a young still unknown Dj at this time: ANTON X. At 22 years old, the JUMPING BASS adventure ends. During three years, Elle isolates in a studio, learns to scratch, improve her turntable skill and finally, keeps on composing music. In 2003, Elle settles down in Nantes and creates " Déviations Sonores " crew with other passionated people .The reputation and the name of the crew become very quickly well known in Nantes and in the western France. The " SUCK MY BEAT "1, 2 and 3 parties become an attractive reference in the west , " SUCK MY BEAT " wasn’t copyrighted and the name is takeover by others, the crew friendly not overreacts… Famous Dj’s are hosted : DA FRESH, RICHARD BARTZ, QUARTET, TARLOUF X and OCTAVE ONE ( famous Detroit house music pioneers). In 2007, after the " SUCK MY BEAT 3 ", the crew decides to make a break… During all these years in Nantes, Elle Smiley have played with a lot of artists and also with other crews, like CINETIC events (party promoters in Nantes). ELLE SMILEY also played past years beside AUTOMAT, E-SWAT, ELIOTNESS, TEKEL and many more. Today, after the « SUCK MY BEAT 3 » and a sabbatical year “of mix on stage” dedicated to the composition of an album, Elle is back … ElleSmiley's album is in listening here (6 tracks) with her mixs : MixforModernTemptation3 Mix, Buena Noches@SuckMyBeat2, « I love You »… Bercée toute son enfance par les rythmes disco et les sons électroniques précurseurs de la techno, Elle Smiley n’avait qu’une seule idée en tête, faire de la musique et rien d’autre ! A 16 ans, Elle acquiert ses premières platines mais n’a toujours pas le droit de sortir la nuit... Lorsqu’elle devient majeure, Elle découvre la nuit et les soirées technos… A 20 ans, après avoir pris une grosse claque musicale au festival du Printemps de Bourges pendant la soirée HEXAGONA 97 avec les DJ CARL COX, RICHIE HAWTIN, LUKE SLATER, JEFF MILES, ALEX K et bien d’autres encore, perfectionniste et de plus en plus décidée à en faire son métier, Elle part dans une école de DJ prêt de Genève à la frontière Suisse. Après quelques expériences en tant que DJ de clubs, Elle commence à se sentir un peu à l’étroit. Elle se dirige vers l’univers des RAVE… A 21 ans, Elle organise ses premières teufs technos avec l’association JUMPING BASS sous le pseudo de « SARQ »… et joue aux côtés de TORGULL, RICKKS, PATON, ST JEAN et P.MOORE. En 1999, le SPACE, célèbre club Lyonnais organise un championnat de mix. Elle envoie une « tape » et se trouve sélectionnée. Elle est classée ex-æquo à la première place avec un jeune DJ encore inconnu à l’époque : ANTON X. A 22 ans, l’aventure JUMPING BASS s’achève. Pendant trois ans, Elle s’enferme en studio, apprend à scratcher, améliore sa technique aux platines et enfin, compose. En 2003, Elle reprend la route et s’installe à Nantes et fonde avec d’autres passionnés l’association « Déviations Sonores ». La réputation et le nom de l’association deviennent très rapidement connus sur la scène nantaise et dans le grand Ouest. Les soirées « SUCK MY BEAT » 1, 2 et 3 deviennent une référence… Nom d’ailleurs repris par d’autres mais n’étant pas déposé, l’association laisse faire… Des DJ tels que DA FRESH, RICHARD BARTZ, QUARTET, TARLOUF X et OCTAVE ONE, les célèbres pionniers de la house venant de Détroit, y sont programmés. En 2007, l’année de la « SUCK MY BEAT 3 », l’association décide de faire une pause… Pendant toutes ces années nantaises, ElleSmiley aura joué auprès de nombreux artistes et aussi en collaboration avec d’autres associations du grand Ouest comme par exemple, l’association CINETIC (crew techno très réputé à Nantes !). ELLE SMILEY a aussi joué ses dernières années aux côtés de AUTOMAT, E-SWAT, ELIOTNESS, TEKELL etc. Aujourd’hui, après la « SUCK MY BEAT 3 » et une année sabbatique de «mix on stage» consacrée à la composition d’un album, Elle est de retour… Son album est en écoute ici (6 morceaux) ainsi que ses mixs : MixforModernTemptation3 Mix, Buena Noches@SuckMyBeat2, « I love You »… |
