About Me |
|
| ...bringing great live acoustic, folk, blues, country and world music to our local area, and providing a platform for new and emerging talent. Weekly gigs, and the MUSIC ROUTES RADIO SHOW on Leith FM 98.8 and online every Sunday from 2 to 4pm. It's sponsored by Coda Music. The Club is run on a 'not for profit' basis and a very large percentage of the door take goes directly to the artists. Our weekly raffle is the main source of income for the club, and is used to pay for the maintenance of our PA system and for publicity material. The club is at The Village, 16 South Fort Street, Edinburgh, EH6 4DN. We put on shows every Tuesday at 7:30. We hope to see you there. P.S. If you would like to be considered for a gig at the club, please visit our website www.leithfolkclub.org where you will find details of how to contact us directly. |

Music:Member Since: 11/11/2007Band Website: LeithFolkClub.org Band Members: Fozzie Sayers, Jim Welsh, Morag O'Dea, Ray Main, Doreen Brady, Kenny Johnstone, Catriona "Geraldine" Smyth, Martin Finnigan, David Hossack and last but not least, Lachlann Finnigan. Influences: Hmmm.......As Louis Armstrong once said "Its all folk music man, I ain't never heard a horse sing a song." Sounds Like: Take a pinch of celtic melody, a nip of blues, a few drops of jazz. Blend them into a smooth paste with a high mountain fiddle then whisk with a set of pipe tunes. Sprinkle lightly with chopped bluegrass mandolin then serve up with banjo, guitar, accordian. Best with friends and a couple of pints on a Tuesday evening. Here's a wee taster of what's on the menu for July and August:. A bit of hometown country from Rachel Harrington on July 29th: We're having a holiday on 5th August, but back with more Americana on Tuesday 12th of August with a double bill of Lou Vargo and Mark Cool - here's a video of Mark in action: Top class piping from our good friends PIPEDOWN on Tuesday 19th August . Here's a video of them performing in Brittany earlier this year. Superb! Record Label: N/A Type of Label: None |
