| Fervent Défenseur d’un héritage Soul authentique, les Shaolin Temple Defenders apportent un souffle nouveau dans le paysage musical français.Fidèles aux sonorités et arrangements des orchestres soul funk des années 70, tels que les JB’s, les Meters, ou encore ceux du label Stax (Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Albert King, …) , ces 7 musiciens proposent un show explosif avec leurs compositions originales.Leurs prestations énergiques rappellent l’ambiance surchauffée des clubs mythiques américains.Après avoir enflammé le public sur de nombreuses scènes, ils poursuivent leur route en ne laissant personne indifférent.
Costumes d’époque exigés, amplis à lampe, orgue Hammond, cuivres serrés, une rythmique implacable et un lion rugissant, tels sont leurs armes pour défendre le temple de la Soul !Suite à un premier album « Chapter I : Enter the temple », sorti en Mars 2006 (Nocturne / SoulBeats Records), ils ont pris la route pour une longue succession de dates : Garorock, Printemps de Bourges, Reggae Sun Ska Festival, Euskal Herria, ZicZac Estival, Musicalarue à Luxey …
Ils ont pu partager la scène avec : Sharon Jones, Maceo Parker, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Groove Collective, Fred Wesley, etc …Sur leur chemin ils ont rencontré la Funky Diva, Martha High, choriste légendaire de James Brown. Désormais, ils proposent également un show avec elle et se lancent sur une tournée de plusieurs mois, qui donnera lieu à un album détonnant !Révélation Soul Funk de l’année, les Shaolin Temple Defenders sont suivis par : MCM, Europe TV, France 3, Radio FIP, France Bleu, Vibrations, Longueur d’Ondes, WeGofunk, Fonkadelica, Concertlive.fr, et bien d’autres les rencontrent sur la route…As the ardent keeper of an authentic Soul music legacy, Shaolin Temple Defenders brings a brand new breed to the French musical scene.True to the sounds and arrangements of 60's & 70's soul/funk bands such as, the JB's, the Meters or Stax's staff artists( Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, Johnnie Taylor...) ,these 7 musicians, who play their own compositions, offer an explosive show to their audience. Their dynamic live act reminds of the overexciting atmosphere of legendary american vintage clubs.After setting fire to their audience on many stages, they keep on keeping on and it's impossible to remain indifferent to their appeal. To defend the temple of Soul, their weapons are as follow: vintage outfits, lamp amplifiers, a Hammond organ, tight horns, an unbeatable rhythm section and a roaring lion.After the release of their 1st album, « Chapter one: enter the temple »( Nocturne/ Soul Beats Records) in March 2006, they hit the road for a series of about 50 concerts: Garorock, Printemps de Bourges, Reggae Sun Ska Festival, Euskal Herria, ZicZac Estival, Musicalarue in Luxey , Bars en Trans in Rennes…They also shared stages with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Maceo Parker, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Groove Collective...They recently met the legendary Funky Diva, Miss Martha High, former vocalist of the James Brown Show and now propose a tight and funky show with her as a lead vocalist. They started touring in March and a live album is going to be released!
