An Introduction to IDR. By James GentIn Dread Response delivers a titanic, brutally punishing wall of aural beauty. It succeeds finding balance between the sounds of sheer misery and a Tony Robbins inspirational book on tape. Anchored in New Zealand’s metal/hardcore scene, but with an anchor line a little too short, IDR haunts just a foot below the cold water’s surface. IDR have been in silent preparation, gathering strength and combining their collective edge and aggression together to provide a fiercely heavy, melodic, dark, intelligent and honest sound. In Dread Response’s music is an all out invasion of your senses, senses that have been dulled for far too long. They take a fierce stance on not riding on “flavor of the day” scene trains and cliché “metal by numbers” type song writing. They write for themselves first and foremost and have been shown time and time again that fans of their music feel the same way. The songwriting intensity thru the weighted dissonance of the guitars and Sean’s gravel voice reciting disenchanted lyrics make you realize how long it’s been since you heard something this raw and honest.
