| RHYTHMATRIX is a project born in 2006 by the meeting of two musicians, Nico Canzoniero aka Pineal and Fabio Costantini, two old friends which hadn't seen each other for some time and which had worked on music by very different perspectives but sharing in common (among others) the passion for the work of the french composer Olivier Messiaen and that for psychedelia (expecially for Gong, Gentle Giant and Canterbury scene of 70's, and for psytrance/techno music). So they decided to work merging the seven harmonic modes of Messiaen and his rhythmic principles with electronic and psychedelic sounds. In the theme of Maelstromusik, for example, there's an explicit quotation of the rhythmic incipit of “Danse de la fureur, pour le sept trompettes” from the “Quartet for the end of time”).
