| .."We've had a lot of questions - where's the new record. There have been some delays, all business oriented. We thank all our fans all around the world for your patience while we try to get this record out to you all ... There will be a lot of music on it, and we think it'll have been worth the wait. ,,, now back to our profile.ANYONE rose from the ashes of SYLVIA, a band featuring Riz Story as vocalist and guitarist, Jauno as bassist (Sky Cries Mary), and Taylor Hawkins as drummer (Foo Fighters). ANYONE spent those early days throwing psychedelic warehouse parties and defining the very underground scene of Huntington Beach. Riz Story struggled to launch ANYONE while being broke and homeless. "I was sleeping in the back of my chicks car, and if we were having a spat I would sleep under the newport beach pier". It was under that pier that he wrote several songs that would become the basis for the early ANYONE live show. KERRANG MAGAZINE described it as being, "Like shamans in a trance". One such performance was captured on the early indi release "LIVE ACID". LIVE ACID'S raw unedited LIVE performance earned the band the distinction of OUTSTANDING ORANGE COUNTY ARTIST at the 1999 Los Angeles Music Awards. Orange County was at that time and continues to be a center of youth culture. Realizing this, Riz Story decided to make a film documenting the scene his band was a part of. The resulting film TOGETHERMENT, has become a cult classic around the world. By now ANYONE had made enough noise to garner some attention. Offered several deals, including one from KORNS label Elementary, ANYONE signed in 2000 to ROADRUNNER RECORDS. . . a decision they would come to deeply regret. Several tours of Europe followed and the band met with raves from the European press. They played Europe's summer festival circuit including READING, LEEDS, PUKLEPOP, and LOWLANDS . . and according to METAL HAMMER "delivered one of the most memorable sets of the festival". their self titled debut remains one of the most critically acclaimed independent releases of recent years. Despite gushing reviews from nearly every music magazine in Europe ROADRUNNER RECORDS decided to hold back the american release of ANYONE in the wake of the 911 disaster. The band had been deemed "to controversial" by nervous record company executives. ANYONE is currently preparing to release its 2nd studio album which will be accompanied by a motion picture of the same title; "The Road". Insiders are predicting that this may be the album that elevates the staunchly independent band into the mainstream. | |
