| Versatile, experienced drummer/percussionist with 20+ years performing, recording and teaching experience in various styles such as blues, jazz, country, rock, surf and classical music. Obtained a Bachelor of Percussion degree from Indiana University where she performed in the university big band, musical theater productions, percussion ensemble and more. She has studied with Kenny Aronoff (John Cougar Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge) and Gerald Carlyss (Principal timpanist of The Philadelphia Orchestra (1967-1988)). After relocating to Austin with her guitar virtuoso husband Dave Biller, Karen has had success playing and recording many different styles of music for artists as varied as Erik Hokkanen, Van Wilks, Cornell Hurd, Johnny Bush, Teisco del Rey, Queen of Spades, Johnny Gimble, Justin Trevino, Erin Jaimes, Doug Sahm, Leona Williams, Louise Rowe (Bob Wills), Jeff Ross (Hellecasters, Rank and File), Martin Banks (Ray Charles, Duke Ellington), the Jazz Pharoahs and many more. | |
