About Me |
|
| A native of Los Angeles, Jennifer Sanchez has worked in the dance community for two decades; and for nearly half of that time as a Choreographer and Instructor. Training in ballet and modern dance, in addition to native “Danza Azteca”, Ms. Sanchez sparked her passion for the traditional native style when she was exposed to danza at ten years old. Motivated to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, Ms. Sanchez delved into the traditional style under the direction of Lazaro Arvizu, for the dance troupe “Xipe Totec”, who is accredited as one of the original people who brought Danza Azteca to the United States from Mexico City.
+ Today, Ms Sanchez is one of “Xipe Totec’s” lead dancers and choreographers, as well as a ballet and Danza Azteca instructor for the City of Los Angeles. Her work as been seen across the nation at large concert venues, museums, community centers, churches, pow wows and reservations ; including the Heard Museum (Phoenix, AZ.), Ford Amphitheatre (Hollywood, CA.), Universal Amphitheatre (Hollywood, CA.), Olvera Street (Los Angeles, CA..), Hollywood Forever Cemetery (Hollywood, CA.), Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral (Los Angeles, CA.), and much more. + Some of Ms. Sanchez’s past credits also include work with the “LA Theatre Works Arts and Children Project”, “Latino Museum” (L.A., CA), “Highland Park Recreation Center” (L.A., CA), National Commission for Democracy in Mexico (L.A., CA.), the Popular Resource Center (L.A., CA.) and “Alma De Mujer” (Austin, TX.), and the nationally distributed Mexamerica compilation. |
