About Me |
|
| Layout made by mad_matt I'm a Fashion & Music photographer. Well, here is a little story of myself......I started out in the mid-Seventies, contributing as a journalist to the magazine Suono Hi-Fi Stereo; at the same time I started to taking pictures of everything that I saw around me: people, things and....whatever. I took my first picture ever at a Rolling Stones show, my second one at a Jethro Tull show: not bad, as beginnings go, right? In 1980 I was one of the founding members of the magazines Il Mucchio Selvaggio. Later, Il Buscadero, and I also started, with my friend Paolo Carù, my record label, the Wild Bunch Records, for which i executive produced 2 lp's that were printed on my label in a limited edition of 3000 copies each. The 1st was "Too Close For Comfort" by Terry & The Pirates, the 2nd "Southern California Drive" by Chris Darrow (images)In the following years I was a regular contributor as a journalist & photographer to various magazines: Ciao 2001, Tutti Frutti, Rockerilla, Tutto Musica & Hi-Fi. I also worked for Videomusic, the first Italian music TV. Then I worked for Italian Vogue for seven years and my images were published on various fashion and music magazines all over the world: Donna, Amica, 100 Cose, Hard Rock, Top Girl, Rock Show, Rock 'n' Folk were some of them. At that point I became photo editor of the Italian Esquire, I made some photographic books, and my first photo exhibition in 1987. After that I made many other exhibitions, a couple for charity, including one with Amnesty International. In 30 years of shooting, I also created around 2000 albums, singles and cd covers for many top international artists and many advertising campaigns for well known trademarks. My images have also been used by many musicians and artists for their merchandising and web sites. I have worked in all the major cities around the globe, and I lived in Milano, Los Angeles, New York and Austin. Well, what can I add ? That I had a lot of fun in my life, and I still do. I made many friends, and I really want to thank all the wonderful people I met and worked with, and made all this possible.........well, keep on rockin' my friends.. | |

Heroes:Easter 2008 slideshow. Here is a tiny bunch of the album covers i've done for the Italian artists. My pictures were used on more than 2000 cd's, lp's and 45's covers around the world..... In memory of Elizabeth Reed (April 08).A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MY WORK.All my pictures are shot on FILMS, with manual cameras, and are not retouched, no DIGITAL crap, so what you see, is what i did at the moment of the shooting. I just like to point that, to preserve real photography and quality photography. Unfortunally, these days, for many different reasons, but mainly due to the economic crisis, the 80% of the photographers shoot with digital cameras, (that translated means that nobody wanna spend 1 cent for quality and many photographers does not have a clue about what a real photograph is), so they use automatic digital cameras (that translated means, no expansives and everybody can do it !) I will post a blog sooner or later about this, but, in few words, i explain to you why digital photography sucks. Digital pictures have no depth, looks flat and the lights look always the same, cause there is no tollerance for any kind of work on it, there is just one way to do it and everything is retouched and rebuilted with computers to allow to present a decent pix. So if you take a look to the magazines these days, everything looks the same, it's like if the same photographer shot everything, cause that is the way digital is..fortunally there are some exceptions, cause somebody found out how all this sucks, and they are going back to films. Shooting pictures with digital, it is like to shoot a movie with a video camera and not on film ! Even if i have a digital camera, in 30 years of work i never used it for a real job, just for fun or for some quick situations for which quality is an option. Obviously, what i say here, comes out from my experience, my personal ideas about it and from many tests and comparisons i did in the last 10 years on this matter. Fabio |
