And on every count, we're extremely pleased they do. Fronted by the unimpeachable Monty Buckles, the Lamps' music alternately careens, crashes, throbs and urges. This is mongoloid frenzy music. Are they paranoid, frustrated, or merely disgusted with humanity? The truth is usually somewhere in the middle. It beats me, but when a band has a dash of Necessary Evils, a dollop of Karate Party, and a fairly heaping mound of their own chemical blend, I'm always available (as we all should be). The trio's debut LP had primitive, cavernous aggression pounding our asses into submission, while their soon to be released follow-up shows a very nice progression. Phase two of the Lamps' recorded journey is marked by more adventurous and expanded sonic approaches, while retaining the thuggish essence that satisfies the planet of the apes. HAUNTED GEORGE Escribir sobre Steve Pallow en su nueva encarnación como Haunted George no es tan sólo hacerlo sobre el enésimo tipo que ejerce de one-mand-band. Porque el concepto que Steve se ha sacado de la manga esta vez no es el de un hombre-orquesta punk al uso. Junto con los otros dos músicos que aúnan el todo a uno que me merecen respeto (The Rebel y Bob Log 3) y que se toman la transgresión como un reto artístico, hacen que merezca la pena escuchar lo producido por su talento y conforman una espectacular trilogía de originalidad.Steve Pallow bien puede decir orgulloso que es perro viejo en esto del underground. Bastaría con haber tocado el bajo y cantado en The Beguiled, un grupo de la California profunda que continuó el legado Scientists haciéndolo más americano y que causó tanta impresión a Tim Warren, el mandamás de Crypt (el sello más importante de los noventa) como para editarles el excepcional "Blue Dirge". A ello también ha contribuido la inclusión en la serie que el sello Norton dedica a los Stones vistos por nuevas bandas, incluso el mismísimo Little Steven (Bruce Sprinsgteen, Los Soprano,...) desde su programa de radio los ha aclamado en varias ocasiones. Tdo esto ha hecho que los Demons Claws se vean envueltos en su tercera gira europea; herederos del mejor punk rock canadiense de los últimos años desde los Sonics a los Sexareenos y mezclado con las raíces del rock and roll y el sonido de chatarreria que cada vez tiene mas seguidores en el planeta tierra, han conseguido ser aclamados por la prensa internacional mas subterranea y crear una pequeña legión de fans que parece ganar adeptos día a día...
