About Me

"A new genre-defying mash-up night with a kitsch, retro twist, taking in everything from electro to northern soul via dub and glam from DJs Poundland Dolls"--Time Out Magazine.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

A brief history of the magic:

On 13th April 2004 Ali met Janie and the two became friends through a shared love of Pennie Smith, the Rocksteady Crew, Chas'n'Dave, and all things weird and crap. Fast-forward to 2006 and--hey!--they decided that the world badly needed another female DJing duo, and now. Ali (English Rose and the yin to Janie's yang) brought the rock'n'roll, burlesque dancing, do-wopp girl groups, amazing hair, over-expanding boobs, and Janie (America's sweetheart and the yang to Ali's yin) put her obsessive love of weirdness, strippers, 70s reggae, people with bad manners, and English punk records to good use...We fell into the Void of Freakdom (Walthamstow), hung around in there for a while...and TA-DAAAHLINGS! The Poundland Dolls were born

If you looked hard in the right places, you might have seen us around London Town. We have a a monthly residency at The Fly in New Oxford Street for Aloud.com/Gibson Guitars' Plugged nights and have graced the booths of Nambucca, Punk, Metro, 93Ft East, the Barfly, the Fly, The Embassy, random clubs all around town, plus our front room.
For band bookings at one of our nights, or if you're a promoter and you want us to DJ, contact us at poundlanddolls@live.co.uk or you can myspace message us of course!
