Boredom was originally formed in 1994 by a gang of mates who were ‘bored’ of the mainstream and underground music scene at the time. After several line up changes over the first couple of years Boredom finally settled on Ian guitar, Stevie Clarke bass, Dani vocals and Ersy on the drums. In early part of 1997 the band sent a demo to Abstract Records (one time home to New Model Army and UK Subs). On the strength of the demo a four-album deal was signed and band went to Shamrock Studios to record their first album and single. From those sessions after much delay a three track E.P. entitled ‘Seditionariess Revisited’ was released in 1999. Due partly to lack of publicity by Abstract and the inability of the bands’ management at the time to secure sufficient promotional gigs Boredoms’ debut release was not a commercial successes. After this failure Boredom parted company with Abstract by mutual consent. In 2001 Boredom recruited a new member Andy ‘pee-wee’ Pearson as an additional guitarist to add more depth and dynamic to their live sets. After vowing to never again get involved with a major record label again the band teamed up with local D.I.Y. punk promoters/label Noize Anoize. This was to prove to be the bands most fruitful period to date an E.P. ‘Back and Kicking’ was released in 2004 followed by a remixed version of their unreleased debut album now entitled ‘Menthols and Cider’. In 2004 Boredom returned to the studio for the first time in four years and released a five track E.P. ‘Lowlife ‘. Lowlife was their most successful release to date and in 2005 the boys returned to the studio to set about recording a second album. With the album almost complete and the band about to embark on their first major tour disaster stuck…bassist Ste and drummer Ersy (for their own and good reasons) announced they were leaving the band. Boredom quickly recruited Andy Foulds (bass) and Andy Cummins (drums) to fulfill their contractual obligations and ensure that the tour went ahead. By the end 2006 and the tour completed Dani (singer/song writer) became frustrated by fellow band members reluctance to return to too the studio an put the finishing touches to the album and decided to leave Boredom and team up with former Boredom bassist (musician/composer) Stevie Clarke to form Death Men Die (see myspace.com/deathmendie). The reaming members of Boredom formed ‘Boredom A.D. and dubbing new vocals and lyrics to old Boredom studio tracks released an E.P. After year or so out and with a lack of activity from Boredom A.D. (for one reason or another they seem to have ground to a halt), with batteries fully re-charged Dani now fells its time for the ‘Real Boredom’ to once again take to the stage. To date rehearsals with the new line up are exceeding all expectations and we will be playing our fist gig on St, Georges Day 23rd April, followed by another local gig in early May then on to Morecambe Nice n Sleazy festival at the end of May. Between rehearsing and gigs we will be going into the studio to record some old Boredom songs that we have reworked, following that work will begin on new material followed by a tour towards the end of the year. ‘till then keep on keepin’ on Dan.
