| Henri Joel was born in France, from an Austrian mother and a French father. His musical education starts when he's five, with attending the academy.While attending school and college, he's involved in many projects as either a drumer, a bassist, a guitarist, a pianist or a singer. He plays on demos and albums with all kinds of rock, hard rock and jazz bands, and starts doing remixes (including a George Benson remix for Universal Music) with various musicians and Djs, appearing on samples under various names.His real debut will be as a singer/songwriter and multiinstrumentalist. His first full length solo album « experimenting freedom », produced by Kurt Richter, Joel himself, and longtime DJ friend Dikran Telfeyan, is soon acclaimed by fans and critics. Thomas Zanky, former Senior A&R at Universal music Austria, said of Joel that « there's a great composer in him », and star producer Christian Kolonovits called « experimenting freedom » a « great production ». People from diverse European radio stations and independent magazines, like Ken Jebsen, Fritzradio, Berlin - Rob Zikmund, FM4 radio, Austria, have had eulogistic words for Joel's music, even before the album was entirely finished. In September 2006, Joel signed a world wide contract with Alcatel-Lucent/T&A to have 6 of his freshly recorded songs put on the micro SD card of Alcatel OTE 801 and 805 cell phones. This seems to be the first real a very quick proof of experimenting freedom's potential. Almost at the same time, Joel is offered a contract to compose the music for an ARTE/CNC production, called « sharing the uncertainty » (anonymes.arte.tv). In February 2007, Joel's track « from this moment » is chosen to appear on the Alcatel-music website, as well as on diverse other web sites. A few weeks later, Joel is offered a contract with an independant record label, "hi-hat records", to sell his tracks on internet platforms, including i-tunes; negotiations are still in progress. on henrijoel.com, you can listen to various songs, check out lyrics, and also a very special apearance of Henri Joel with the irish band "The Frames" at forestglade festival 2005. | |
