About Me |
|
| Delia's Biography My name is Delia Faith Ross and I was born in Greenwood, Mississippi (Home of the Blues) on August 19th, 1978 but moved to Nashville, Tennessee (Music City USA )as a young child where I was raised. When I was 22 I joined The United States Army on February 14, 2001 and soon after received my graduation papers for my Basic Combat Training which lasted 3 months. I completed my basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina and proceeded to Fort Sam Houston, Texas for my Advanced Individual Training in which I earned my Medical Specialist Certificate. I also received my National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Certificate as a civilian. Since then I have gone on to receive several other various medical certificates and Army awards that I am very proud of. My medals in the Army include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Superior Unit Award, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Marksmanship Award. I have ten other medical certificates in which I have earned BUT will not list them here. Also I have been promoted three times in the United States Army, to the rank of E-4/ Specialist. After completing my medical training I was stationed in Miesau, Germany in August of 2001. I arrived in Germany on August 19th, my 23rd birthday. While living in Germany, I visited England, Holland, Belgium and France. I worked at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), the largest medical center outside the continental US. I worked in the Emergency Room (ER)Clinic as well as the General Surgery ward and Intensive Care Unit. In 2003, my unit the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), the last MASH in the Army, was ordered to Kuwait. We arrived in Kuwait on 02/14/2003 where we awaited orders to invade Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. My unit was the first United States Army Hospital established in Iraq in March of 2003. I was located at various different places in Iraq where my unit treated Iraqi civilians and soldiers, as well as U.S Soldiers. We were in the desert some 120 days before we were allowed to head back home. Our initial orders had been for 9 months, however my small little unit did such an excellent job we were granted to leave early. I remained in Germany after the war for another year before returning home regretfully to the states in March of 2004 where I was then stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I worked at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) for one year until I had fulfilled my initial four year contract with the Army. While at the hospital I worked in several clinics including the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Clinic, The General Surgery Clinic, and on the Mother/Baby ward. After receiving my Honorable Discharge from the military, I went on to receive another two years of service in the Army Reserves where I currently am active in Springfield, Missouri with the 325th Combat Army Support Hospital (CASH). I will be in the Active Reserves until March of 2009, unless I reenlist. Additionally, I am a mother of one and a full time student at the University of Phoenix. My daughter’s name is Isabella, which means “a gift from God”. She is- quite frankly, the light of my life. In college I am working towards my Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology and then on to my Masters Degree in Psychology. Another passion of mine is Photography where I hope one day to work part time in that field. I have played the guitar, mostly acoustic for about 16 years now. It is a personal passion of mine and I do not plan to market my talents as such. I still have a lot to learn about guitar. I would like to add that I enjoy going to concerts and meeting bands, and recently got to see and meet one of my favorite bands, Type O Negative, live after six attempts and 13 years of trying (lucky 13)... |
