About Me |
|
| "the Blitz" was born in the Pilz family basement when Tim, Tony and Kelly where members of Green Bay band "Excalibur". Feeling the need to travel and bring their brand of 80's rock across the country it was felt that a trio was not going to work. The three enlisted the help of Pat "PJ" Hibbard who was the guitarist/frontman for well known "Moving Violation". Pat agreed to take a chance on newly named "the Blitz" and the new band was formed. Drummer Todd Lent joined the band after the first week out on the road when it was decided that Tim Pilz should no longer front the band from behind the drumset. Todd was also a member of "Moving Violation". The Blitz ventured on the road in January of 1988 and their debut album "Get it On" followed in late spring. The album was recorded at Kansas City's Chapman Studio's under the direction of XFR management's Pat Meuret and Produced by Steve Huston of the iconic 70's rock band "Head East". Many attempts were made to get the band signed to a major label and much interest was found. CBS records was close to offering a deal when the band broke-up in May of 1990. Whast could have been a HUGE band in the 80's was no more. The songwriting of Tim Pilz continued to elvolve during the bands time on the road, and some of the best songs where only heard by the huge audiences that attended Blitz shows. The song "untouchable lady" was actually written by Tim Pilz years before, and entered in a National songwriting competition called "Rock to Riches" the same competition that John Bongiovi won the year before with "Runaway". The song won the regional competition and came in runner-upin the nationals. Oh well,,, we were close to greatness! I hope you enjoy this page of tribute to one of the 80's best kept secrets.......the BLITZ!!! I edited my profile at Mywebpower.com, Click here for these Layouts |
