Taking after their Dad, they started out playing the blues and nothing but the blues, but then, one landmark day, deep in the bowels of the ol’ Man’s record collection, they discovered Joe Satriani’s ’Surfing With The Alien’, and that changed everything! From then on, it was rabid listening to all things ROCK!Artists such as Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Dream Theater, Thunder, Pantera, Nickelback and Three Days Grace all became firm favourites. Armed with these influences, they were ready to start writing their own songs. They have been working on original material for sometime, but struggling with the production side of things, having to learn computing, MIDI programming and Music tech, etc., so things took a little longer than expected, but they now feel they’re getting somewhere near to where they want to be.KIN have since spent a lot of time trying to achieve an identifiable sound and style of their own, not an easy objective! They finally achieved this goal simply by laying down track after track until things began to sound ’right’. The 6 songs they have posted are some of the early fruits of their labours, and are a mixture of guitar instrumentals, and soft rock songs the majority of which they have written themselves.The duo have been gigging around the south for about 4 years now, covering anything and everything from ZZ Top, ACDC, Bon Jovi, Ozzie, Status Quo, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Marvin Gay, to name but a few. They try to add their own twist to all the songs they cover and follow only one vital law: IT MUST ROCK! Adz and Ben thoroughly enjoy the ’cover’ experience and work is well on the way for a CD of all their most popular ’live’ songs. They eventually hope to write enough quality material for a KIN debut release. Hopefully, that won’t be too long in the offing.
