Size Losing Today: Mimas’ sound is more native to that of neighbouring Iceland - the glacial cathedral-esque currents that underpin its sweetly volatile lilting calm are very much moulded and fashioned with a lingering degree of early Sigur Ros releases in mind, making full use of the space ’Thought Discuss’ softly unravels from a feint sparsely drawn whisper to never quite reaching the godspeed like apocalyptic turbulence it so often threatens to erupt in, instead it cautiously flickers and flirts as though blighted by its own hurt to tattoo you with its tragic head bowed sense of despair which itself imparts an innate desire on your part to throw around it your arms in a conciliatory gesture as were. Drowned in Sound: Uplifting, layered beauty. 7/10 The Silent Ballet: Sublime drifting guitars play like lost astronauts of inner-space, all of which culminate in a paroxysm of emotion. (...) I have had this on constant replay of late; it definitely has a healthy shelf-life, in fact, the longevity of a shatter-proof ruler. 7/10 Tasty Fanzine: Those yowling vocals could strip paint, so three cheers for Mimas who dispense with singing in favour of undulating post-rock loveliness. Subbacultcha: Mimas take the progressive and crystal like pop genius of Sigur Rós and give it a slow, crushing beauty of it’s own. Digital Spy: Arching and almost desperate-sounding guitars draw the track up as the chorus takes hold before it returns to the softness it's been showcasing the rest of the time, high-pitched, Albertsson's falsetto vocals trilling out the notes rhythmically, methodically, gorgeously. 4/5 Room Thirteen: They create crescendos of beautiful distorted guitar and vocals but stay firmly rooted with a decent tune to back it all up; spine tingling sound-scapes of gentle but epic sweeping post-rock that leave you wanting more. 11/13 Record Label: Big Scary Monsters Records Type of Label: Indie |
