"Straits" also aptly indicates a channel, by which a voice from the local music scene may be heard. Record Label: In 1995, Straits Distribution was born to serve the hardcore punk community by bringing in hardcore punk music from all over the world. At that time, such music was either expensive or hard to get in music stores. In 1997, our name was changed to Straits Records. Our first release as a record label was The Jabs CDEP "Time of Negligence". Over the years, Straits Records has existed for various reasons, our main goal is to keep local music alive. Finally in Jan 2005, the search ended at 43 Haji Lane, a small quaint street on the outskirts of the main city area.
