| Antonio Loffredo was born in Messina (Sicily) on September 15th 1697. At the age of eight he starts to study the piano and classical music. He quits studying five years later, so as to experience new musical horizons, marked by the tendency toward arrangement and improvisation. At the age of nine he starts performing during expos and for local television stations. However, it’s only after he completes his schooling that his career as a pianist and keyboarder experiences a significant increase. In fact he performs with several bands and orchestras in dozens of squares and nightclubs all over Italy. Occasionally he would open the concert of famous Italian artists, such as Michele Zarrillo, Pupo and Cugini di Campagna, to mention only a few. At the age of twenty he starts getting actively interested in jazz, thanks to Pippo Tiberio, an experienced trumpet player (at the time 54-year-old), whom he will always remember fondly. Back in Messina, after a long stay in Rome (and several trips to the United States), he meets the pianist and composer Melo Mafali, with whom he immediately starts collaborating. Priceless is his collaboration with his friend and music director Sandro Comini. Professionally gratifying was his performance in Ginostra (Sicily) along with the singer Roberta Marchese and the guitarist Adolfo Crisafulli at a reception held in honor of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Prince Ernst of Hannover. He has also been performing in several jazz clubs in the south of Italy along with Nino Belmonte (drums), Aurelio Bandiera, “Lucio Da Silva”, (bass), Pippo Mafali (upright bass), Scott Aruda (trumpet), and other capable musicians. Also important for him is his participation in interesting workshops. Among these, one held in Messina by such great musicians as Giovanni Mazzarino and Bob Mintzer, for which Antonio Loffredo was the interpreter********** Antonio Loffredo nasce a Messina il 15 settembre 1967. All’età di 8 anni inizia gli studi classici di pianoforte che interromperà cinque anni più tardi preferendo nuovi orizzonti musicali caratterizzati dalla tendenza agli arrangiamenti e all’improvvisazione. Inizia ad esibirsi in occasione di fiere e per qualche emittente locale dall’età di 9 anni. Dopo aver terminato le scuole superiori la musica diventa la sua attività primaria. Si esibisce con diversi gruppi e orchestre in decine di piazze e locali d’Italia, aprendo, in alcune occasioni, i concerti di noti interpreti e cantautori italiani (Michele Zarrillo, Pupo, Cugini di Campagna, ecc.). All’età di 20 anni inizia ad interessarsi attivamente della musica jazz. Il suo rientro a Messina, dopo una lunga permanenza a Roma, intermezzata da lunghi soggiorni negli Stati Uniti, favorisce l’incontro con il pianista e compositore Melo Mafali, con il quale ha subito iniziato un’attiva collaborazione. Antonio Loffredo vanta l’inestimabile collaborazione con il direttore d’orchestra e amico Sandro Comini. Professionalmente gratificante la sua performance a Ginostra (nell’isoletta di Stromboli), eseguita insieme alla cantante Roberta Marchese ed al chitarrista Adolfo Crisafulli, in occasione di un ricevimento organizzato in onore della principessa Carolina di Monaco ed il consorte, Principe Ernst di Hannover. Durante gli ultimi anni si è esibito in noti locali del sud Italia insieme a Nino Belmonte (batteria), Aurelio Bandiera, in arte “Lucio Da Silva” (basso), Pippo Mafali (Contrabasso), Scott Aruda ed altri validi musicisti. Importante per lui anche la partecipazione al seminario di grandi artisti quali Giovanni Mazzarino e Bob Mintzer, per il quale Antonio Loffredo ha operato fra l’altro in qualità di interprete. | |
