For Marquee(aka Mark Martin) as a Dj ,it all began when a popular girl from his High School( Lincoln High School) asked him to Dj her B-day party @ her house.had all the music,but he knew nothing about Djing.That led him to go to other party's and see what everybody was dancing too. Once he did his research,he was ready to give it his best shot. The party was a big success,which led them both to host more party's together.That branched Marquee to have party's @ his house.
By that time Marquee was in demand,and became the official Dj for all of his High School events.He even played music for the School's Lunchbreaks, and receive a credit for it.
They had a Big room just for him to play music,and kids from other School's would come and hear him spin.It was one Big Party.
When Marquee was old enough to go out to teen clubs,he heard of this popular spot called "SPECTRUM NIGHTCLUB".800 plus kids every weekend dancing away.Just so happen @ the time, they were looking for a backup Dj.So Marquee spoke to the Dj (Jeff Frady aka Dj Control)and he told him to come audition for the position.Marquee told him he knew nothing about mixing.He took Marquee under his wing, and showed him The art of Mixing.The Nightclub would bring Artist like :ICE-T,NOCERA,CONNIE,EGYPTIAN LOVER,RODNEY-O,BOBBY JIMMY & THE CRITTERS,THE BOOGIE BOYS,just to name a few.When the club closed down, Marquee got a call from Dj Paul Butler,whom he & Donald Glaude was spinning @ this club called "VERTIGO" in Tacoma,They were looking for another DJ,and wanted Marquee for the position,for the club Franchise was expanding to Northern California.So Paul went to Cali to Dj their,While Donald Glaude & Marquee
were the Dj's for the Tacoma club.From there Marquee was in high Demand,playing everywhere,from clubs,to private parties,even afterparty's for MONTELL JORDAN,DMX,Was the Dj for BOBBY BROWN'S B-DAY PARTY when NEW EDITION was in town for the Reunion Tour,Marquee Djing while Bobby's on the mic Freestyling.Marquee was also the host for SNOOP DOGG'S DJ B-DAY PARTY ( DJ JAM) With the hole DOG POUND Posse indahouse.Record Companies would even call him when their Artist was in town like EMINEM'S Crew D12 ( R.I.P. Proof)to chaperone them.There was a time when Marquee had tickets to see a concert,and it turned out that they needed him to MC the show,so with 5 minutes until showtime
Marquee thinks up something to introduce both artist LENNY WILLIAMS & AL GREEN Soldout Concert,and brings down the house.
Marquee also had a Record Pool for Dj's (FOURCLAWENTERTAINMENT)which was very successful, thanks to NASTY-NES,CRAZYPINOY,& POINTBLANK PROMOTIONS.And all the Major Record Labels.From his Record Pool,he met Canadian Artist ADAM H.He had several hits in Latin America,which Marquee toured with him 2 years straight in the that country alone.
From there Marquee worked with " ROCKSTARMUSICORP",As a Artist Development Consultant for Canadian Artist "ROSETTE" ,whom had a Number #1 Hit Called "CRUSHED",and a Top 10 Hit Called "UH-HUH".And was the 2006 POP ARTIST OF THE YEAR For Canada.And Consultant for Canadian Artist" ELISE ESTRADA ",Nominated for Two
CANADIAN MUSIC AWARDS FOR 2008,BEST NEW ARTIST,& BEST URBAN, DANCE SINGLE,for her hit"INSATIBLE".Marquee also has the great pleasure of touring with them both as their Dj/Hypeman.
And it does'nt seem Marquee has any plans of slowing down,as he is currently tapping into the songwriting world.
If you look @ the first video you will see this amazing girl by the name of EVA SABINIANO,whom has been winning every competition she enters.The song she is singing was written by Jonathan Curlington & Marquee
So even though they call him MARQUEE...really...he's just low key.
