| Leo Mars started his djing career in the year of '87 when he started Radio Studio 22, which was a pirate station, mostly focused on hard rock music. His first time as a club dj was in 1994, in the island of Mykonos (Aigli bar-Cavo Paradiso's dj afternoon meetings). Since then, he has played in various club-bars in Athens (Plus Soda-One Happy Cloud-Loop-City Groove-Zoo-Guru-Stavlos to name but a few), and also in other cities around Greece and Cyprus. Some of the names that influenced Leo Mars in his musical style are: Glenn Underground-Mr.Fingers-Francois K-Doc Martin-Miguel Migs-Martinez-Mark Farina. An important turn in his career were his visits to Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, which turned gold into forming his unique musical style and preferences, bringing back with him to Greece the West Coast House sound. The connections that he made there with WAX records, owned by Doc Martin, and other people from the house music industry like Nikos-Under My Skin Records/Tony Watson/Peter Black/Miguel Migs/Pacific Coast House Recordings & Beatnonstop record shop gave him a wider view of what is available in the scene, and a glimpse of what Leo believes to be the future of house music. Leo has graduated from a certified sound engineering college in Athens (1995-1997 AVR Pro), which gives him a technical knowledge of how electronic music should sound. In Jan 2001 Floorfiller bookings/promotions signed 3 years collaboration with Leo as a dj of the team. People say that Energy Dance Festival (Sept 2001) and the warm up set in Deep Dish's show ( Moscow tour) at Plus Soda (Dec 2001) are the gigs that put Leo in another level of the Athenian dj scene. Leo's ''Supernatural love'' with his friend Kevin Sunray has been released on cd compilation at Planetwork's Local underground label. This track was also released in vinyl by Blockhead Black records(Sublabel of Blockhead recordings)from San Diego( Jan 2005). | |
