| When fORMER frontman Denny Smith arrived in Nashville in in the summer of 2003, the last thing on his mind was leading a band. Having spent the previous 3 years as guitarist for Los Angeles-based Best Of Seven, his intention; upon relocating to Music City, USA, was to carry on in the same capacity with a different group, which he did.However, while solidifying a reputation as a capable sideman and prolific songwriter, unexpected events precipitated him taking the reigns as vocalist, and so began fORMER. With several members of his last band willing to take this leap of faith with him, Denny, bassist Henry Go, drummer Billy Baker, and keyboardist/guitarist Lee Coram set about crafting a sound inspired by , and occasionally reminiscent of such artists as Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, Jimmy Eat World, Cheap Trick, & The Replacements. The band consider themselves; simply, "loud pop", merging a love for straightforward, hook-heavy, melody-driven tunes with an affection for guitars that have been known to go to eleven. Having scored three wins at modern rock station 102.9 The Buzz's 2007 Buzzy awards, nabbing Best Alternative Band and Song of The Year honors for their tune "Lies", as well as a listeners choice award for Best Bassist, fORMER are again nominated in the Best Rock Band and Best Bassist categories this year. "Lies", along with other cuts from their EPs have been featured in several independent films.
fORMER have supported national acts such as Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Cowboy Mouth, Evan's Blue, Soil, 12 Stones, John Corabi, Eve 6, & Luna Halo, and the band continue to build their fanbase throughout the Midwest and Southeast with steady gigging, while preparing to begin recording their full-length debut in February 2008. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------- |
